- Your rough draft is to due Monday 10/22. It can be handwritten or typed.
- HANDWRITTEN EXPECTATIONS:
- Use full 8 1/2 by 11 inch college ruled notebook paper. Trim off any shreds remaining if pulling the paper from a spiral notebook.
- Write in pencil or in other colors.
- Double-space the writing--which means to write on every other line of college ruled notebook paper.
- Leave one-inch margins: The red line on the left shows the left margin; the faint red line showing through from the back side shows the right margin; the top margin is the unruled space at the top (begin writing your name on the second ruled line); leave the last couple of lines at the bottom unwritten upon so there's an inch margin at the bottom.
- Indent each paragraph one-half inch.
- TYPED EXPECTATIONS
- YOU CANNOT EMAIL OR SHARE YOUR PAPER. YOU MUST BRING IN A PAPER COPY FOR PEER EDITING.
- Follow example of MLA formatted Paper on pgs 22-30 of the Aztec Literacy Guide
- Paper size: 8 1/2 by 11 inches
- Margins: One inch on all sides: top and bottom and left and right.
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size:12 point
- Justification: Justify left; leave the right side jagged
- Spacing: Double-space the entire paper, from the student name at the top of page one on through the title, text, quotations, to the end of the works-cited entries
- First-page heading: On the first page of the paper, in the upper left-hand corner, with double-spacing turned on, type on separate lines your name, the instructor's name, the course number (English 9 or English 9 Honors), and the date the paper is due.
- Title: Center the title, using the same font and font size as the rest of the paper. Follow the same rules for font format as in the rest of the paper: Do not underline, italicize, or boldface the title or put it in quotation marks. (If there's an individual word or words in the title that require italicizing or quotation marks, then italicize or use quotation marks for those words.) Use "title case" for capitalizing the words of the title: The first letter of each word, except for articles, prepositions, and coordinating conjunctions. Regardless of the parts of speech, always capitalize the first and last words of the title.
- Running header: Type your last name, skip a space, and type a "counting" page number flush right in the header for every page of the paper so it will show up a half-inch from the top of the page. Do not preface the page number with a p., or hyphen, or any other mark. For instructions on how to create a header in MS Word, click here.
- Printing: Ms. Kelly prefers printing on both sides in order to conserve paper. It is okay to print one sided though if that's how your printer works.
- Binding: Staple the pages of the paper in the upper left-hand corner. Do not use a plastic folder or other casing.
- Peer Edits will be completed on 10/23 and 10/24.
- Final Draft must be typed, in MLA format and submitted to TurnItIn.com by 7:20 am the morning of your class period. No exceptions. No late papers.
- Per 2-4 Due by 7:20am on Thursday 10/25
- Per 5-7 Due by 7:20am on Friday 10/26
